Orphans and vulnerable children in Kitwe are given the opportunity to learn through Musonda Community School. Children from low-income communities face a multitude of challenges that prohibit them from attending school, such as school fees and lack of family role models. Musonda Community School offers quality education for students that otherwise might drop out of school.
Over 800 orphans and vulnerable children attend Musonda Community School each year. Musonda aims to enrich students’ lives by providing a holistic education. Students grades 1-9 receive school supplies and are helped with their school fees. Additionally, the school feeding program provides lunch for all students 5 days a week. In February 2018, an adolescent corner was set up at Musonda Community School which meets regularly to discuss topics such sexual health, with a focus on HIV/AIDs, entrepreneurship and life skills.
