With support from TEARFUND, launched the Light my Church, Light my Village (LICLIV) project in 2018 to promote the uptake of renewable solar energy and economic diversification through climate resilient value crops among beneficiaries in selected communities on the Copperbelt Province. Solar power has enormous potential as an energy source owing to a surge in Electricity tariffs and heightened power cuts by the state-owned power utility company- ZESCO. Daily power cuts have become a norm in Zambia, and this has stifled production and economic growth. Hydro power is traditionally the power source in most homes in Zambia. Many households have reverted to gas and candles for lighting and charcoal for cooking, further accelerating the rate of deforestation. There is growing need to meet the existing energy demand.
